The Story of Manman - 1

Hello,

I'm Eimann Azry - but I like Manman better. I was a premature baby, born at 7 months with my weight less than a kilo. When I was four years old, my teacher told mummy that she should have me checked out, because I'm different. Mummy was reluctant, because she feels that all children have different milestones, so it doesn't matter if i was a bit behind as long as I'm healthy. Eventually mummy and daddy had me checked out - and doctor told us that I have Asperger's Syndrome.

I used to love playing with sticks and strings. I would imagine myself building a town with lots and lots of electrical post (or was it the telephone polls) that you see by the roadside. Everywhere we go, mummy must remember to bring along the stick and strings - or else, i will throw a fit, and of course she wouldn't want that to happen.

I used to be fixated with lizards - all kinds of lizards. I can stare at them and look at their pictures for hours, but I think mummy is very happy that I can't bring myself to touch them (even the fake ones). I think they are very yucky.

Some kids and even grownups think I'm weird. But mummy says I'm just a tad eccentric - she tells me that a lot of clever people are eccentric, like Albert Einstein. Maybe if i meet Mr Einstein then I can ask him whether he likes lizards...

(Eimann Azry will be 6 yrs old this year and is the youngest son of Aiza & Azhari. He lives with his parents and elder brother Immran whom he dotes very much - his current obsession is Spiderman)

Where Do I Begin?

As I'm sitting cross legged on my bed, trying to come up with something interesting and intelligent to write - for the welcoming note to this blog, I find myself not knowing where to start. You see, occassionally I will indulged myself in bloghopping but then I was never the one who writes.

In the spirit of experiences sharing (in which this support group was formed), I sincerely hope that this blog can serve as the medium to discuss and share our stories in raising children with Asperger's Syndrome.

Ideas, stories, articles, photos and artworks revolving around these special children are most welcome - mainly to remind us that we are not alone and life is never dull with an aspie around.

Not forgetting, a note of thanks to Dr Subash for getting us together!
